Founder & Creative Director
4 Big Ears is about discovering our world through conscious listening. Through specifically designed workshops, we explore the fascinating complexity of sounds that surround us in both the urban and the natural environment. We react against a world heavily driven by visual information and we invite people to realize how equally important it is to relate to and understand the world from an aural perspective. In our workshops we question our relationship with space through passively listening and through actively engaging in capturing, producing and manipulating sound elements. Each workshop aims to immerse participants into a journey of sound awareness, discovery, manipulation, and composition. We are passionate about topics such as: Field recording, soundscape composition, acoustics, psychoacoustics, sound sculptures, sound ecology, sound recording, sound design, sound editing, sound electronics. Participants will also have hands on experience in building microphones, creating interactive musical systems, contributing to online sound maps, and much more. Some activities may be conducted entirely without the use of technology, while others may involve recording equipment, editing and mixing software, soldering, and computer programming.
