With over 34 years of experience as a senior scientist and executive at Embrapa, the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation, I am passionate about advancing sustainable agriculture and food systems globally. I have a PhD in Plant Molecular Biology from the University of Arizona and a MSc in Plant Genetics from Purdue University, where I received the Distinguished Agriculture Alumni Award in 2014.As a Research Scientist at Embrapa Agroenergia since January 2020, I apply my expertise in operational strategies, planning, and strategic intelligence to lead research, development, and innovation agendas that achieve measurable impacts. I have held diverse positions within Embrapa, including Scientist, Head of R&D of two Research Centers, Head of Embrapa´s R&D Department, Head of International Cooperation in Asia, Executive Director of R&D, and President of Embrapa for two consecutive terms (2012-2018). I have extensive experience in team building and applying systemic approaches to management, and I have collaborated with academia, industry, government, and multilateral development organizations throughout my career. I have also been recognized by the French Republic and the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Relations for my outstanding contribution to world agriculture.
