About Miguel Ángel Valero Duboy
Miguel A. Valero, PhD in Telecommunications Engineering (2001) at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), Spain, is an Associate Professor (2003) at the Department of Telematics and Electronics Engineering (DTE), at the School of Telecommunication Engineering (ETSIST) of UPM and Delegate of the director for Accessibility and Social Responsiveness. He was the Director of Ceapat, IMSERSO (2014/19), Visiting Professor at Mälardalen University, Sweden (2014/17), Deputy Director of Research and Doctorate at EUIT Telecomunicación (2004/08) and Director of the Department of Telematics Engineering and Architectures DIATEL (2011/14) at UPM.His research began in 1995 at the Bioengineering and Telemedicine Group at ETSI Telecommunication of UPM. He co-founded in 2005 the Group of Telematic Systems for the Information Society and Knowledge (T>SIC-UPM) where he led R&D works in e-accessibility, telemedicine systems and e-health. In 2021, he joined as a senior researcher to the UPM Group of Technological Innovation for Persons (InnoTep) and since 2023 he is the founder and coordinator of the Group for Educative Innovation in Accessibility and Digital Home, consolidated by UPM. He has worked in over 35 European and national projects related to accessible information systems, networks and telematic services for e-health, by managing, modelling and deploying telemedicine and m-health solutions at hospital, home and rural scenarios. He is the author of 3 books, 12 book chapters, 14 journal papers and over 150 conference publications about telematics, telemedicine, e-accessibility, telecare, e-health and human factors.See: http://www.researchgate.net/profile/Miguel_Valero_Duboy/?ev=hdr_xprfHis doctoral dissertation on broadband home telemedicine services was awarded in 2002 by the Official College of Telecommunications Engineering. His R&D work as manager of the Accessible Digital Home at ETSIST (2005/14) for people with disabilities received the awards: CERMI PRODIS 2008, Fundación Konecta 2009 and Manos Solidarias 2011 by the Red Cross Society. He was main UPM researcher of TELPES project, "Telecare for people with hearing impairments", awarded by Imserso in 2010 with Infanta Cristina prize. He led AcceMovil, awarded in 2011 with the V Vodafone Prize for Innovation in Telecommunications. Prizes Fundación Pilares 2016 and Fundación Dales la Palabra 2017 at Ceapat. Prize 2024 of Asociación Española de Ingenieros de Telecomunicación Madrid to Professional Excellence and Social Compromise.
