Acting Consultant Venereologist
Current• Comprehensive care for people living with HIV (PLHIV)− Screening of acute opportunistic infections, co-infections, malignancies, and management.− Timely initiation of antiretroviral treatment.− Continuous monitoring of immunological, virological, and biochemical parameters.− Couselling on positive living and ART adherence.− Prevention services for mother-to-child transmission of HIV− Continuous assessment of psychological, and psychiatric statuses and arranging relevant referrals when needed.− Monitoring and counselling on lifestyle modifications for prevention of non-communicable diseases and related morbidities.− Maintain satisfactory nutritional status - arrange relevant referrals when needed.− Provision of sexual health services and family planning services.− Link to Nongovernmental organizations / Community-based organizations and positive support groups for social support.− Prevention services for mother-to-child transmission of HIV• Management of pregnant mothers with HIV infection and HIV-exposed infants. → Liaison with relevant other specialties. (Paediatrics / Obstetrics)• Management of paediatric HIV patients.• Case discussions with consultants regarding the management of complex HIV cases.• Organizing weekly HIV case discussions for postgraduate trainees (Registrars / Diploma trainees)• Inward patient management, while liaising with other medical specialties when necessary.• Administrative activities – Programme planning, drug procurement, data management for monitoring and evaluation, revision of guidelines and other publications etc.• Biomedical HIV prevention – Pre Exposure Prophylaxis / Post Exposure Prophylaxis (occupational and sexual exposures).• Coordination of training programmes for medical officers, nursing officers, public health inspectors, medical laboratory technicians, and other staff categories.• HIV surveillance activities.
