I initially joined the bank as a senior support analyst for credit derivatives trading desk. This involved ensuring both intraday and overnight risk and pricing batches ran successfully. Working with the traders, sales and financial engineers to resolve overnight issues and to ensure their risk viewing applications worked. Technology was Microsoft SQL Server and C++.After 2 years I was promoted to Group Lead for front office exotics desks. The business areas supported by the team included equity, commodities, FX, credit and rates. My role encompassed both hands-on support as well as management (both disciplinary and functional) of a team of 10 people in London. The applications supported were primarily developed and maintained in-house. My responsibilities included:- Minimise operational issues for all applications including critical systems used by the trading/sales desk for risk management and pricing;- Continue to support the credit derivatives trading applications to understand on-going operational and governance challenges;- Manage and prepare for internal/external audits for applications supported by the team; rollout checks across the department to minimise findings;- Manage serious incidents impacting ability of the business to operate;- Attend change management meetings with the development teams to minimise downtime;- Ensure segregation of duties was implemented;- Presentations to business and IT heads of achievements;- Reduce costs and risk to business by implementing agreed changes;- Managed the rollout of ITIL best practice across the department to ensure consistency and improved communication to the business during incidents;- Recognise and reward the excellent work done by my team;- Develop Unix scripts to monitor applications;- Work with department head and team leads to implement a continuous improvement programme;- Manage support of IBM Platform Symphony used by front office, finance and risk application with13,000 cores.

I worked on the TLM reconciliations system as a hands-on team lead. Development was done using Sybase SQL Server, C/C++ and Unix. TLM was used to reconcile between back-office and front-office systems.

Implement bug fixes and enhancements to GLOSS settlements system. Ensuring business went live with a reconciliation system called Insight.Sybase SQL Server, C/C++ and Unix.

Implemented TLM reconciliation system for new back office settlements system (GLOSS). Involved development using C and Unix. Trade feeds and formatting data into Swift 571/572 messages had to be completed to allow data to be reconciled in TLM.After 6 months moved on to assisting with implementation of the GLOSS settlements system. Feeds to external systems, regulators, etc. had to be developed. In addition new modules were built (Sybase SQL Server, C++/Unix/XML) to replace GLOSS functionality in order to reduce licensing costs.

Originally joined as a developer for replacement FIC settlement application which had been in development for more than 3 years. Despite being ready for implementation, the business were reluctant to roll it out. I was asked to perform a role to ensure business tested and signed off to allow for implementation. This was successfully completed.

Joined to implement TLM reconciliation system to be used by operations and finance. This was to replace manual Excel based processes as business was planning large increase in trading volumes which existing manual process could not handle. Implemented feeds and Swift message formatting in C/C++ and Unix as well as setting up rules.Once this was implemented after 6 months, I moved on to assist in large implementation of new settlements system called GLOSS. Required feeds, reports to be developed in Sybase SQL Server, C/C++ and Unix.
