This job has been a further development of my reporting and analytical knowledge into the project environment. Downer helps Icon Water deliver water and sewerage infrastructure into the ACT and surrounds via an alliance arrangement. My role has been to link the financial objectives of Downer (i.e. deliver profits from projects at a fair rate) and to ensure we complied with the project deliverable objectives of Icon Water. This role has further developed my skills in forecast reporting and I supervise one other staff member to ensure that the Alliance finances for both parties are maintained. My job is split into two main streams:Downer : reporting of results into the Downer system and monitoring of project results; ensure projects are setup into the JDE system appropriately; maintain project billing for Icon Water; maintenance of receivables; review purchase orders to ensure they comply with budgets and meet delegation limits; assist Project Managers with their reporting of financial results into the wider Downer system. I also prepare monthly reports that are reviewed for both Downer and Alliance reporting of forecasts.Icon Water: ensure project forecasting for Downer Alliance projects are entered into Icon systems; ensure projects have appropriate purchase orders to be able to bill into the Icon Water system; update accruals information into Icon Water Oracle formats; comply with Alliance Agreement and ensure Audit of Alliance runs smoothly. I have recently also been responsible for bringing Icon Water into a more advanced form of project reporting as financial compliance and accountability for results has always been a problem.

Building on my financial reporting background this role gave me management reporting exposure and insight into the construction industry. As well as preparing monthly financial reports and special purpose financial reports for the Joint Venture (JV), I prepared the management submissions to the head office such as Quarterly Project Reports and Commercial Assessment Reports (including the management of the excel models that drive them). I also prepared tax return submissions (for review by the Tax team).I was highly involved in procurement decisions, providing scrutiny and ensuring compliance with our commercial responsibilities, budgets and cash flow forecasts. I also prepared and administered payment runs for approval by JV partners enuring both the Lend Lease and JV procurement procedures were followed. I also maintained the debt administration of the JV, with drawdown documentation and rollover administration.

Working directly for the CFO and CEO, I had a variety of responsibilities including daily cash flow management, financial reporting, management reporting, administration of the Microsoft AX accounting system, FBT return preparation, BAS preparation and dealing with day to day accounting issues including payroll, approving payments and posting invoices (both payables and receivables). I also co-ordinated the collation of information from all the subsidiaries and ensured that all deadlines for reporting to the board were met and was the main liaison with the Auditors and tax advisors. This role involved the supervision of a small team as part of my role, providing guidance and leadership. As part of the leadership team I continually sought to improve systems and controls, regularly identifying weaknesses, suggesting and implementing necessary controls. I worked with a large degree of autonomy and responsibility. For the period November 2006 to May 2007, I also covered many of the duties of the CFO on an acting basis, working directly with the CEO and board.
