Developed, test and implemented disaster recover procedures for high-availability non-stop clustered Microsoft Enterprise Servers. Provided specialist operating system consulting to both Vodacom and 3rd party software developers, particularly with regards to writing code that interacted with very large SQL databases, loading several million rows an hour.Trained and supervised collectively a team of 20+ Microsoft System administrators, and ensured adherence to the system operating standards. Built and configured FreeBSD Exim MTA's for the network edge as well as the provision on Squid Object Cache servers to mitigate the impact on the high­cost frame relay connection to the Internet Worked toward building an automated system to download daily weather data over cellular telephone links from remote weather stations, enabling Hortec to sell a valuable weather prediction and pest spray control service to farmers.
