Assisted 'Future Terrains' (Peter Whitbread-Abrutat) over the 2023 Summer, researching international case studies for a forthcoming book on creative, innovative, and fascinating ways to re-use old mine sites and regenerate mining communities.This gave me a deeper insight into the complexities that surround mining and allowed me the opportunity to gain better experience in understanding professional research practices.I worked as a kitchen prep in a heavy tourist-based restaurant in the summer of 2021.I worked throughout the kitchen as a preliminary sous chef working in areas including the: poissonnier, rotisseur, entremetier, patissier, and washstand stations.I quickly learned to work under pressure both as an individual and in a team at the forefront of a high-paced adrenaline-fuelled environment with time often being the limiting factor. This period of work gave me perspective on time management but also indicated the use of others' help when attempting to complete a task.I Volunteered in an Oxfam shop for 24 months as part of my Gold DofE during 2019-2021I worked as a sales representative, item manager/stocker, and cashier.I gained experience from working in a team and understanding the role of each member in a task at hand. Also, working with members of the public enabled my communication and confidence skills to grow as a result of the close relationship that the store had with the people in the area. Furthermore, I engaged with the marketing side of the volunteering well which allowed me to better understand the economics of managing a store.
