About Max De Groot
From a young age I have been interested in science. The molecular basis of life, in health and disease, has always been incredibly compelling to me. I am especially intrigued by cancer, because the intricate mechanisms that cause this virtually fatal and uncontrollable disease are still not fully understood. Therefore, I would like to focus more on cancer and tumour research, in which I can use my molecular biology, immunology and biochemistry skills to gain more insight into this disease or to further improve said skills.

I will be doing an intership for my bachelor graduation semester, in which I will gain theoretical and practical experience in the field of cellular signalling, mainly the role of reactive oxygen species in cellular behaviour. My focus will be placed on the phosphorylation of pathway proteins that may potentially be activated by endogenous ROS release of mitochindria.
