During summer 2015, I worked as an Analyst intern at The Brattle Group, an economic consulting firm. I worked on a variety of client-based and research-focused projects with small teams of Analysts, Associates and Principals. Much of my responsibilities included data mining and analysis in Excel and R, spreadsheet audits and research. I focused on two main projects. First, I analyzed 40 years of government collected nutrition data to determine if people in a variety of demographic groups consume foods differently. This involved worked with large datasets and discussing results in teams with the use of summary statistics and graphs. Second, I examined cases heard in the UK commercial court in order to determine the key economic issues at play. This involved developing a consistent and easily repeatable system for classifying cases and using databases to quickly find relevant filings. I also used python based text mining programs to separate long legal documents into useful sub-fields and topics.

This fall, I worked as a TA for an introductory Macroeconomics class. My responsibilities included hosting bi-weekly review sessions and meeting with students individually. I worked with the professor of the course to design interactive review sessions which encouraged the students to think critically and engage with the material. Individual sessions were catered to the particular needs of the students and often focused on improving study strategies. As part of my training for the position, I attended a two-day seminar where I learned innovative teaching techniques designed to make class material more accessible and interesting to students of a variety of backgrounds.

During winter 2015, I worked as an Economic Consulting Intern in DLA Piper's Tax Group. I worked with a small team of Economists to create reports in transfer pricing and intangible asset valuation. For these reports, I researched a variety of markets, preformed extensive qualitative searches and wrote industry overviews and company strategic profiles. I also built benchmark and discount rate analyses using Excel.
