I supported State Department lawyers within the offices of East Asia and Pacific Affairs, where I worked on matters concerning international claims to disputed islands of the South China Sea, and Human Rights and Refugees, where I analyzed U.S. compliance with the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

I advised several judges on cases pending before the US Army JAG Corps' court of criminal appeals, which hears arguments by soldiers facing criminal sentences for violation of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, in the US and abroad. I was also embedded in the garrison legal office for Fort Belvoir, which adjudicates civil administrative claims by Army personnel, assists them with family law matters, and prosecutes criminal cases under the UCMJ.

Phnom Penh, Cambodia

As part of UNAKRT Defence Support Section, I provided advice on international criminal law and trial preparation assistance to a team of Cambodian and foreign attorneys defending IENG Thirith, the former Minister of Social Affairs for the Khmer Rouge regime, before the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia.
