Max leads Allies and Morrison’s Cambridge studio and directs the practice’s work in Cambridge. He has been responsible for the design and delivery of several higher education, workspace and masterplan projects.Max led estate masterplans for St John’s College, Trinity College, Girton College and the redevelopment of the Old Press/Mill Lane site for the University.In 2013, Max completed Ash Court, a new-build undergraduate accommodation wing and refurbished swimming pool at Girton College, which has received numerous awards for its sustainability credentials, including an RIBA East Special Award for Sustainability. Max has led a number of key projects in sensitive settings, including Tower Court at the Foreign Office in Whitehall, new-build offices on the waterfront in Hamburg’s HafenCity and the redevelopment of Hampton Court Station on the River Thames. Max maintains a keen interest in sustainable building and led Allies and Morrison’s pro-bono work for a charity-run training centre in Malawi. He is regularly invited to give talks on our higher education projects and sustainability work, and has been a visiting tutor at various Universities including Cambridge, Sheffield and Plymouth.Max trained at the universities of Edinburgh and Cambridge and received a President’s Medals award for his dissertation, while his final year project was awarded the RIBA East Student Award. He joined Allies and Morrison in 2004 and was appointed a Director in 2016.
