I was employed as a marine biologist and dive master at Barefoot conservation for 6 months in Raja Ampat, Indonesia. During my time at Barefoot I produced the first 3D models of the house reef, computing ecological niche models utilising citizen science data, and headed the creation and implementation of a new coral bleaching program monitoring the first bleaching event in the area. In preparation for Barefoot's yearly scientific report I collated, analysed and visualised all data for the Coral bleaching, Manta, Cyanobacteria and Beach clean project – resulting in a wide range of figures communicating complex science simply. Additionally, I co-supervised a university students undergraduate project examining the environmental conditions associated with reef manta ray aggregations, resulting in the first species distribution model for the species in the Dampier strait region.
