Project-based position in the Lands Office to assist with ground-breaking research on land tenure. Provides critical analysis of research material, and supports community outreach and engagement. Prepares memos and presentation documents and attends community events and focus groups.

Vancouver, Canada Area

Collaborated with a team of eight on a CMHC-funded project understanding Metro Vancouver's zoning and land use policies under the direction of Drs. Nathanael Lauster and Jens von Bergmann. Found a large divide in housing stock between municipalities, including that 80% of Vancouver is reserved for single-family homes, amidst a housing crisis that disproportionately affects poorer and racialized people.Prepared social media and public-facing data releases for the project to highlight the research, leading our work to be used in the 2021 report BC-Canada's Expert Panel on Housing Supply and Affordability.Compiled data of zoning bylaws for each of the 21 municipalities to create a map that could be shared with stakeholders and the public.

Through UBC's Work Learn program. Provided administrative support to a high-impact academic journal on UBC’s campus, that experienced large growth with the emergence of Asia-Pacific relations, becoming one of the most-cited journals in Area Studies.Facilitated publishing procedures related to academic book reviews, including coordinating mail deliveries with publishers, managing social media, and leading correspondence with editors and authors. This led to about 30-50 book reviews being published four times a year.Maintained the mailroom and office spaces, upkeeping databases, contract filing to ensure a smooth publishing schedule before and during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Rosslyn, Va

Collected data of best Transportation Demand Management practices, which helped other researchers in the office write reports to share with public transit agencies in the US.Wrote articles for the Mobility Lab blog that focused on how to make more inclusive and sustainable multimodal communities. This led to work on language accessibility in public transit that I would later receive recognition for in Metro Vancouver via Spacing and The Tyee.

Engaged with the community supporting events such as outdoor movie night in the summer, which was attended by hundreds of residents and brought attention to the new waterfront area of the neighbourhood.Contributed graphics to the team that was supporting businesses in Georgetown, trying to market and make the neighbourhood as successful as it could be. Large publicity and events came from some of this work such as GLOW, an art walk.Produced GIS maps to the team for various projects, as well as learning how to use data entry to maintain files.
