Co-Founder/Co-Executive Director of Rhythmic Mind, a Hip Hop Therapy organization dedicated to spreading and maximizing the impact and transformative power of Hip Hop. Before Co-Founding Rhythmic Mind I worked for many years as a mental health clinician with "at risk" youth at many schools and various non-profits throughout the Bay Area. My work in these schools included developing/leading Hip Hop Therapy groups/workshops and providing trainings to hundreds of staff and parents around trauma, mindfulness, and suicide prevention. I hold an MA in Psychology from John F. Kennedy University where I wrote my Master’s thesis on Hip Hop Therapy. Previous to graduate school I worked with The Beat Within, where I led poetry/rap and creative writing workshops with incarcerated youth in Juvenile Halls in Alameda and Santa Clara counties. Through the experience of leading these workshops I felt I was truly fulfilling my purpose on this planet. Since then I have made it my mission to effectively bridge the gap between hip hop and therapy. In pursuit of this vision, I co-created Rhythmic Mind’s proprietary custom designed Hip Hop Therapy models and curriculums which are actively being used in schools, after school programs, and juvenile justice facilities across the Bay Area. My passion for working with youth in a creative capacity is fueled by a deep understanding/experience of the raw therapeutic power of hip hop, and its potential to engage, deeply impact, and transform the lives of youth. Hip Hop very literally saved my life on several occasions. This is why I have chosen to dedicate my life to it. Additionally, I am an MC and producer/beat maker who's creative expression is informed by my passion and hunger for social justice.
