KEY SKILLSCustomer Service: whilst working at Sainsbury’s I was required to demonstrate excellent communication skills and attentiveness in delivering an excellent customer service. This was particularly the case is highlighted when engaging with and advising customers in helping them with their hot food counter requirements. Time-Management: whilst working at Sainsburys I was required to demonstrate effective time management skills, as demonstrated by the following: prioritising tasks and activities to ensure that the fresh food counter opened on time and to quality; planning through the day to ensure that adequate fresh food supplies were available to replenish the counter; and being flexible and pragmatic in managing my time to resolve unplanned issues.Communication: through working in a customer facing role at Sainsburys I was able to improve my communication skills and my confidence in engaging with other people. For example: I was required to actively listen to customers in processing their fresh food orders; I had to adapt my communication style in advising a wide range of customers; and I gained much more confidence in engaging with senior colleagues within my team.Problem Solving: I had to work through solving a number of problems whilst at Sainsburys, for example: there were occasions where I had to resolve customer complaints regarding fresh food counter purchases; on a few occasions key equipment broke down and I successfully implemented work-arounds that ensured that the fresh food service was still available; and, on one occasion, I had to demonstrate creativity in making pizzas to combat a short-term supply-chain issue.
