About Max Mayer
After graduating from University College London with a BSc in Management Science (minor in Ocean Engineering), I started working for West Africa Blue, a developer of blue carbon projects in West Africa, focused on community-centric mangrove conservation and restoration. I’m passionate about my work, especially fieldwork with local communities and colleagues. I am confident that nature-based solutions, especially for mangroves, are a strong way forward in mitigating climate change, and helping communities develop a sense of stewardship of their precious coastal resources. Transparent, high-integrity projects such as the ones West Africa Blue is pioneering in West Africa, are vital to showing the example of how beneficial a carbon project can be to all actors involved in its development.Excited to connect with anyone interested in blue carbon, mangrove ecosystems, coastal resilience, FPIC, carbon accounting and more.

Blue Carbon Analyst
West Africa Blue is a developer of community-centric, Nature-based Solutions to climate change, mangrove conservation and restoration focused on Blue Carbon projects across West Africa.• General support for Blue’s technical project development and scientific requirements, working closely with other members of the in-house team and third-party partners, to support the identification, assessment, design, development and operation of projects.• General support for various components of carbon project development including but not limited to pre-feasibility and feasibility analysis, spatial analysis, carbon accounting, fieldwork, certification process requirements, education and awareness programs, theory of change development, livelihoods, conservation and restoration programs, biodiversity programs, marine protected areas and others.• Active engagement with Blue’s in-country teams, carrying out responsibilities on-the-ground in Sierra Leone and Guinea primarily, to facilitate community engagement, data gathering, sampling, ground truthing or other activities required to further carbon project development.• Development or translation of resources, such as documents, memos, presentations, research or similar, in English and French.• Collaboration and involvement with selected third-parties and organizations as it relates to blue carbon projects, such as universities, research institutions, industry bodies, NGOs or similar.
