About Max Mchugh
I have 2 masters degrees in mechanical engineering (with a concentration in non-linear dynamic control systems) and engineering management (with a concentration in probability theory and statistical analysis for large scale manufacturing processes) from USC. My undergraduate degree is from Carnegie Mellon University in physics with 3 minors in astrophysics, mechanical engineering, and public policy.Currently, I am on the modeling and simulations team supporting the overhead geospatial systems business unit acting as the lead for operations and also a mission advocacy engineer for future contracts. I model EO/IR sensors and analyze the world coverage quality, missile tracking, and error analysis while trying to determine the optimal constellation design of satellite assets. I was on the nuclear weapon effects team at Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems Sector. In this position, I modeled nuclear weapons and determined the set stem to component level damage due to the blast in space. I was researcher at The Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University along with William “Red” Whittaker, director of the Field Robotics Center. There, I optimized the location of the Gamma Radiation detector and the on-board/real-time, computer data processing script that will be launched to record radiation levels at gaseous diffusion plants for proper disposal. I have worked with both Carnegie Mellon University and the NRAO to design and build a radio telescope array in South Africa. I designed the support structure to hold the 6m diameter dishes. This is the largest radio telescope array ever developed. I also researched at NASA and was able to develop new equations to study galaxy parameters and evolution. I was tasked with testing validity of simulated data, of galaxies and the stars within. My goal of showing the similarities between the developing simulations and published simulated results was successfully confirmed. I am passionate about leaving a long-lasting positive impact in which I improve and build on others work, but more importantly, create my own legacy. I am confident that I can quickly adapt to the innovative work environment and translate my skills into Industry.
Listed skills include Physics, Science, Simulations, Python, and 14 others.
