Drilling Manager leading an in country team to deliver two HTHP wells in the Etinde field, in 55m of water, using the Vantage Topaz Driller (BM-375 jack-up unit). Technically challenging campaign with borderline HTHP and very narrow pore pressure – fracture pressure window (< 1ppg) requiring the use of MPD in the reservoir sections. There was a requirement also for minimal discharge <1% so the TWMA thermal desorption system was employed. The team was assembled at short notice and the first well was spudded within 6 months. The scope was to prove up additional reservoir extent in preparation for a potential development campaign. The second well was successfully tested at a flow rate of 17.1 mmscft/d and 8780 bopd on a 56/64’’ inch choke.The campaign was delivered with no lost time injuries and the workscope was completed well within budget. The second well was drilled at 50% of the offset well cost.

Short workover campaign in the Shewashan field. The campaign involved working as Drilling Manager/ Supt. in a very small team with two land rigs (DQE 30 and 32). The scope was to conduct workovers on the wells including sidetracks, coiled tubing interventions and acid squeezes to improve well productivity.

Overall in country accountability for Drilling and Completions in Ghana. This included all EHS and Operational Performance for the Deepwater Jubilee and TEN Developments and Ghana near field exploration. The team had two deep water dynamically positioned rigs running almost continuously. Initially the Transocean Sedco Energy and the Seadrill West Leo. Latterly the Stena DrillMax drillship replaced the Sedco Energy. The water depths for the fields varied from approximately 1600m to 2000m.The workscope was varied with the drilling of medium step out (up to 4km) development wells at +/- 3400m TVD and one 300m horizontal section (J-19). The completions side was equally interesting with Jubilee and TEN development multi-zone intelligent well completions as well as a rigless acid stimulation campaign using coiled tubing with a service vessel (BOA Deep C). The performance of the team was benchmarked first quartile year on year. The EHS performance improved over the period (West Leo achieved over 3 years LTI free).Represented Tullow Ghana Management team at TCM’s with governmental agencies and JV partners (EPA, GNPC, Kosmos, Anadarko and Petro SA).

Deepwater Exploration (1900m+ water depth). Set up the team and conducted the well planning from Houston intially prior to transition to Ghana (Takoradi) for detailed planning and operations with the Maersk Deliverer (6th Gen dual activity semi- sub).The team reformed in August 2011 to drill a further three exploration and appraisal wells using the 6th Generation drillship Stena DrillMax. All three wells were drilled with first quartile performance. A key driver for the team success was the development of an enabling environment culture with the Hess and Service Partner team.
