The market structure and infrastructure should serve as a blueprint for other nascent and growing markets.This has been a core component of my investing thesis and 3 examples include crypto markets, sports betting, and private markets. After investing time and money across all 3, I will be focusing my time and energy on private markets. I recently joined a great team at Monark Markets focused on making private markets more accessible and efficient.At Monark, our goal is to provide API infrastructure and technology solutions that empower broker dealers – enabling them to provide their clients seamless access to private securities via their brokerage account.Today, many traditional brokerage accounts provide investors with access to equities, options, and fixed income. Tomorrow, we’ll see private markets and alternative investments.In addition to providing access to high quality, exclusive investment opportunities – Monark’s B2B approach and structure of supporting access within a brokerage account provides tremendous value to our broker dealer partners and their underlying clients.I have personally invested in 75+ private companies & multiple funds. The process of investing, tracking, and liquidating positions is inefficient, fragmented, and burdensome.Beyond the day-to-day inefficiencies that exist while I am lucky enough to be alive - the process of tracking and transferring ownership of private investments to my wife, son, and family is incredibly inefficient. Making these investments and holding them in a brokerage account changes that. And that's just the start...Before Monark, I was an early employee at SpeedRoute. I worked my way up from office manager to Chief Strategy Officer and the third largest shareholder when we were acquired by Overstock. I went on to serve as Chief Strategy Officer of tZERO, co-wrote the tZERO white paper, and helped raise $130M.After tZERO I moved on to investment banking, angel investing, and strategic advisory. I'm intimately familiar with U.S. equity market structure and helped establish and grow equity trading infrastructure as well as compliant secondary trading of private securities.
