I am a committed biological scientist-in-training with an AS in biotechnology from City College of San Francisco. My unquenchable love of biology has defined my life since elementary school, growing from a child's wide-eyed obsession with dinosaurs to studying biochemistry, paleoecology - and many other fields in the life sciences! I worked as a part-time intern in UCSF's DeGrado Lab during the spring of 2023, helping my team by growing E.coli cultures and expressing de novo recombinant signaling proteins. While there, I also learned how the AlphaFold deep learning program is used to predict protein structure - and attended lab meetings and seminars that helped me understand the basics of the protein design process.
