Hey! My name is Max Weitzman, a Freshman Philosophy student at Loyola Marymount University. I am passionate about Philosophy, especially the practical implications of the study. Experience: I was introduced to Philosophy in my Junior year of high school by Mr. Migdail, one of my favorite teachers to this day. From then on, I have attended University of Southern California's one month summer course, "Philosophy of Economic Markets & Money" and scored an "A" in the course. Currently, I am enrolled in my freshman Philosophical Inquiry course, and I enjoy every drop of the class. I score high on quizzes and I frequently connect with my professor about questions about the reading. I want to get the most out of my Philosophy degree, and I want to connect with the Philosophy department at LMU and the Philosophy community in the greater LA area. Passion: I am interested in applied Philosophy. Whether it be the three parts of the soul for Plato, or what evil is for Augustine, whenever I read a piece, I take parts of it and apply it to my own life. Philosophical pieces have weight and practical implications. The communist manifesto, for example, has shaped our modern world and U.S. international relations. I also think about how to apply these ideas to help heal our divided nation or how to hold our leaders accountable. Future: With growing social pressure against big tech companies such as Facebook and Google, the need for Buisness Ethics grows. The idea that humans are the products to big tech companies must be discussed further. People must be informed about the fine print, and I would like to study this at my time at LMU.Thanks for reading, and have an awesome day! :)
