I worked as a receptionist at the Tennis and Fitness Centre in Exmouthm, Devon. This involved daily admin tasks, answering phone calls, booking clients into classes, promoting and finalising membership sales, setting up indoor tennis and football courts, as well as cooking and cleaning. During my time I feel i most benefitted in my ability to communicate with others as I had to learn how to communicate with adults at a formal level as well as a friendly one. Other skills I feel that were furthered were team-work skills, organisation and my working etiquette.

During my time at the Fitness Centre in Exmouth, I worked as an assistant football coach. This involved working a few hours a weekend, helping run and coach football sessions for a full range of children in terms of ability and age (4-11). I was able to work alongside coaches from Exeter City FC as well as independent coaches. My skills as a coach really developed as I was able to make notes of a range of different drills and sessions, as well as acquiring communication techniques specific to talking to and teaching children. During the school holidays I would also work as a coach for sports camps called 'Sportz-mix'. This role allowed me to test and learn methods of teaching sports that aren't my first choice, as well as taking a more lead role in coaching, often having to take charge of groups of 10+ children. This role also involved admin that taught me about the safeguarding procedures involved when working with children in the absence of a guardian, which is knowledge that I feel will be beneficial and appropriate for the rest of my career in sports.
