In 2017, RW led a consortium of Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drug (MH/AOD) organisation to win the tender for the Integrated Systems of Care and the Aboriginal Integrated Systems of Care programs. Funded by the WA Primary Health Network, the program aim was to better integrate the MH/AOD sectors through commissioning of place-based models of services that respond to community identified need. As manager of both programs, I was directly responsible for driving, strategising and managing parallel programs from community engagement through to contract negotiation and contract management. The role included recruitment of a diverse engagement team that reformed into a smaller support team after a period of six months. The position was responsible for strategic development and delivery of consultation with vulnerable and disadvantaged communities in 21 targeted locations over a period of six months. The second stage of the program included reporting to the project management and governance groups, feeding back to local communities, facilitation of calls for proposals for services, evaluation of all proposals and contract negotiation. The final phase included direct responsibility for the management of 44 subcontracted services across 17 organisations. In July 2019, all subcontracted services were transitioned back to WAPHA in a logical next step to this funding cycle. I was requested to stay on until September 30 2019 to ensure that the complexities of reporting for both programs had been completed to a high professional level.
