WFP Tanzania’s initiatives included food assistance for refugees, nutrition programs, support for smallholder farmers, and supply chain innovations.Prior to WFP, I managed the nutrition program at the Tanzania Communication and Development Center. My work involved adapting social behavior change communication strategies to enhance nutrition for young children and pregnant and nursing mothers, reaching over 10,000 individuals across seven districts in three regions.During my Peace Corps service, I honed my project management and design skills in health, HIV, and sustainable agriculture. In the village of Mlevela, Njombe Region, I led projects such as constructing modern latrines with a 3000L rainwater catchment system at the primary school, installing solar power at the health clinic, and organizing an HIV awareness and testing soccer tournament.

Two hundredcommunity members were tested for HIV/AIDS and 500 participated in the educationsession. An additional 30 village youths were educated on safe sex practices and on riskybehavior, and assisted in distribution of condoms from district to local shops and bars.-Started an Environmental Club at the nearby secondary school, discussing topics such as ecosystems, compost, plant biology, and nutrition. - Organized and lead a four-day girls’ empowerment conference with five participating schools, teaching HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention as well as nutrition, leadership and life skills.-Taught English and Math at the local primary school.During my service I also attended trainings in:- Project Design and Management- Permagardening and Bio-Intensive Gardening- Zinduka (Grassroots Soccer)- Malaria Prevention Outreach and Community Mobilizing- Fuel Efficient Stove Construction- Food Security and Integrated Pest Management
