I helped shape the roadmap for products that help our clients evolve toward value-based care and led build vs buy assessments to accelerate product value creation. The products covered a spectrum of value-based client needs including clinical analytics, care management, utilization management, and provider network management. We delivered decision support solutions for clinical quality, population health management, condition prevalence, and risk stratification. I worked with IT and clinical domain experts to acquire, to design, to develop and to test clinical analytic tools and services; scouted the market to support acquire/build decisions; researched changes in clinical data standards to enable integration of data from medical claims, pharmacy claims, health assessments, electronic medical records (EMR), lab results, and hospital workflow administrative data (ADTs).Within six months, we moved from an existing batch-based solution that required SAS programmers for maintenance and operation to an on-demand service with sub-second response with rules written in a domain-specific language for clinical decision supportIn addition, I researched healthcare data standards such as HL7 CDA, FHIR, and IT regulations such as Meaningful Use, installed systems to determine if we could use them for our future projects, designed UI wireframes, conceptualized, and implemented proof-of-concept solutions

I developed road-maps, performed market analysis, monitored product performance, and planned product launches for products that save health plans money by improving member engagement as well as reduce member and provider attrition. The products provide health plan members and doctors with actionable advice on how to lower health care costs and improve the safety, quality, and coordination of health care. The products rely on analysis of medical claims, pharmacy claims, and healthcare assessments. One in nine Americans receives medical care coverage through WellPoint’s affiliated plans. The company served 33.3 million medical members through its affiliated health plans and a total of 69.2 million individuals through all subsidiaries.

At the hospital, I helped improve quality of care by harnessing data strewn across systems. I worked on decreasing surgical site infections, improving anticoagulant administration compliance, improving utilization management, and improving influenza vaccination compliance. On these projects, I analyzed business requirements, designed applications and reports, and enhanced them as I gathered more feedback from physicians, nurses, and administrators.The Johns Hopkins Hospital had earned the top spot among American hospitals for 20 consecutive years. In collaboration with the faculty of The Johns Hopkins University, the hospital supported medical education and research, and provides innovative patient-centered care to prevent, diagnose and treat human illness.

I analyzed revenues, costs, expansion and acquisition projects, and produced reports for regulatory filings. In addition, I developed a medical coding quality management application used by 5 hospitals and a productivity tracking application for use by 70 medical coders across the system.Inova Health System is Northern Virginia's leading not-for-profit healthcare provider, serving more than 1 million people each year and employing over 16,000 professionals.
