Specifically, I was frustrated by a sales call I had received by one of their representatives. I was not nice, certainly not objective. I was bitchy, whiny and abusive, and I didn't limit my comments to the specific person I talked to--I accused the whole company. Less than an hour later Max contacted me via Twitter, very nicely, already apologizing for the bad experience I had, and soon we talked by email, followed by a phonecall today. During all these conversations he was very patient, and very understanding. He encouraged me to tell him about every little detail, and made me feel like he cares about everything I had to say. He never blamed the sales rep I talked to, but still made me feel like my anger was justified. That's a difficult balance act. I know that it should be "Communication 101", but we all know it's not. Listening compassionately to somebody who is angry is a rare skill. He did not only listen, but also made me feel like I matter, like it is his personal responsibility to ensure that the issue gets resolved to my full satisfaction. His company must handle over a million accounts by now. I've never paid them for services, and still I felt like the most important person in Max's day. I'm grateful, and impressed, and I don't hesitate to recommend him for EXCELLENT communication skills and customer care, and I'm sure he trains others for the same qualities."
