About Max Barbour

In my first sales job I sold £1200 vacuum cleaners door to door. It was a commission only role, 7 days per week. It taught me a lot about tenacity and perseverance From there I moved to telesales at Yellow Pages and then onto increasingly more consultative roles, eventually selling strategic software solutions to large UK corporate accountsI've always been influenced by employee engagement. When I moved in the direction of running my own Sales Consultancy and eventually back into the corporate world, I made a commitment to use coaching methodologies in everything I do. I've gone on to prove many times that when sales people work on themselves and improve their mindset it leads to an increase in results. When people are motivated, have a purpose and have confidence running through their veins, they will find a way to succeed. They make better decisions, bounce back from defeat and learn from their mistakes. People react differently to change, to internal communications, to training, to their Manager and they all have different life goals, fears and frustrations. Sales Enablement tools and programs must be flexible enough to take these variations into account, while also channelling energy into the tasks and behaviours that lead to improvements in ramp up time, pipeline growth, close rate and profitabilityOn a personal note, over the years I’ve been lucky enough to have seen a lot of the world. I spent a few months travelling around the USA when I was 21 and took a year out to tour the world when I was 30. I'd happily revisit Thailand, Australia or Argentina
