As OhmConnect continued to grow, I worked closely with several of the engineers to help them develop leadership and management skills and gradually turned over day-to-day responsibilities to them so I could focus on long term technical strategy and execution. Some examples of my accomplishments during this time include improving our Nest thermostat support and acceptance into the Works-with-Nest program at Google, doing a deep-dive analysis into the impact of smart plugs and thermostats on performance and writing the technical plan for a joint venture with an international utility.

OhmConnect gained momentum, attracting additional VC funding and consistently acquiring new customers. Even as I was tasked with growing and managing our team of engineers, II continued to be a major contributor to software development. One of our significant challenges was scaling as we grew by a factor of 15x in 2017. This required revving up and fine tuning our Celery distributed task queue to handle millions of jobs per day with time critical bursts during OhmHours, moving our analytic store to the columnar database Redshift, performing deep data analytics and incorporating Vue.js

I became a very early customer of OhmConnect after reading about their service in a Greentech Media article. I was impressed with the concept and execution, and learned that the company consisted of just the 2 founders, neither of whom had any formal software training so I launched a campaign to join their team. After the most extensive interview and background check process that I have ever gone through, I was hired and went to work. It was great to be a development team of one again. I put my head down and focused on getting as much done as I could. It required that I become expert in Python Flask, JQuery and significantly deepen my knowledge of SQL. At the same time, I set up the Amazon AWS hosting services. Security was very loose, so I cleaned up some glaring cross-site scripting and SQL injection holes and implemented VPN access to all our services.

A friend from Presidio called me up one day and asked if I knew someone that was good at Ruby on Rails programming and data analytics. After giving her some references and hanging up the phone, I realized that I was a perfect fit for the position. AutoGrid was still small at the time, so I joined the team of 7 onshore and offshore engineers. It was fun to work in a team again and learn Jira and Agile techniques.Achievements: Developed code in Ruby on Rails, JQuery, CSS, HTML, MySQL. Led the offshore and onshore development teams. Introduced test driven development and code review processes. Expanded and maintained Jenkins automated testing including auto-scaling EC2 workers. Implemented Kibana/Logstash centralized logging console. Discovered and fixed severe cross-tenant security hole and added field-level database encryption. Optimized SQL queries for 100x speed improvements. Decoupled our architecture by separating functionality into Gem libraries. Consistently met tight deadlines.

In my business school classes at Presidio I met an amazing women Connie Kwan who had a vision to create an app that helps people be healthier (and stop eating out so much) by showing how quick and easy it is to cook delicious meals at home. I was intrigued by the idea and with working with Connie so partnered with her to do the development work for RealMealz. We created a beautiful app that accomplished Connie’s goals. During this time, I honed my skills in building dynamic apps using Javascript, JQuery, HTML5 and CSS3. With a large focus on automated testing, Connie was always pleased with the smooth transition from development to production.Achievements: Created the site using Ruby on Rails, JQuery, CSS and MySQL. Did scaling tests on Amazon EC2, RackSpace and Heroku. Deployed on Heroku using Amazon S3 for picture storage and Amazon CloudFront for static asset caching.

Grid REVolution was a vehicle-to-grid (V2G) solution that enabled electric vehicle (EV) drivers to make money from their idle EV batteries while accelerating the world towards a clean energy future and was a semifinalist in the Cleantech Open business plan competition.

I received my Sustainable MBA degree at Presidio Graduate School and learned how to run a business that produces a profit while also respecting people and the planet. My studies focused on electric vehicles, charging infrastructure and vehicle-to-grid (V2G).

Developed computer and Internet security products. Its popular WebPasskey program, which automatically filled in password and contact information on web pages, was sold in 2000 and the rest of its assets, including its high-performance IP core products, were sold in 2001

The company developed and marketed several software and hardware solutions for enterprise-scale floppy disk duplication. It was the leading US supplier of PC-base floppy duplication products to corporate customers.

InsMark provided life insurance illustration software to life insurance companies and agents. I nanaged a team of 9 people and participated in writing life insurance illustration software, providing technical support, writing product manuals, testing software, providing product support and manufacturing products.
