About Max Girardeau

I am passionate about reweaving the threads between Nature, Education, and Health. Through my work with The Visionaries, I challenge the inherited narrative of separation that underpins many of today's global crises. My mission is to support young people in recognising themselves as integral parts of the living world, fostering a sense of self that is deeply interconnected with nature and community. As a strategic advisor to the National Trust, I help support their mission of "Nature, Beauty, Heritage, for Everyone, Forever" by promoting regenerative approaches that ensure these values are upheld for future generations.I create transformative spaces where intergenerational groups can embody the harmonious, thriving world we aspire to. My hope is that these immersive experiences, whether in the wild or within educational settings, act as beacons of hope. They remind us that the change we seek is already within us; we just need to cultivate the right conditions for it to emerge collectively. I’m deeply committed to practices that help us befriend discomfort, navigate adversity, and listen to the wisdom of nature as our guide. With over a decade of experience in school community and culture development, I bring a trauma-informed, ecocentric perspective to my work. I believe in the transformative potential of education that nurtures not just academic, but emotional, social, and ecological resilience. As a wilderness guide and strategist, I support communities in creating regenerative spaces that cultivate well-being, belonging, and a sense of purpose. I am passionate about shifting power to promote and enhance collective governance - how we work together as stewards of shared resources and ideas.

Year Here is a full-time postgraduate course in London designed to cultivate entrepreneurial approaches to entrenched social problems.http://yearhere.org/network/max-girardeau/Here are some of the things I have been doing during my time on the programme:- I enabled Bold Tendencies CIC to further embed their arts programme within the local community through outreach projects and new communication strategies. Bold Tendencies is a not-for-profit summer arts programme based in Peckham's multi-storey car park. During my 4 months with them I developed their education offering, working with local primary and secondary schools to make world-class art accessible to local young people.- For 2 months I worked with Soundings Office on the Brent Cross South Regeneration Scheme. I created a baseline snapshot of the local community that was going to be affected by the £4bn regeneration taking place over the next 15-20 years. This gave Soundings and Argent Related, the developers working on the scheme, the necessary information to make informed decisions on the scheme's development that were aligned with the community's wants and needs.- I have recently launched The Radicle Project, a programme of emotional and environmental learning that uses experiences in the wilderness to equip 13-14 year olds with the skills and knowledge to better look after themselves and their world.
