Campaign Manager
CurrentCampaign Manager
- Managed a $12 million budget for an incumbent member of the United States Senate. The campaign was the top vote-getter for Connecticut in a challenging election environment.- Coordinated with a large team of interested partners, including the DSCC, the Connecticut Democratic Committee, national and local advocacy organizations, long-time campaign allies, and fellow Democratic campaigns in Connecticut.- Executed message research and development, debate negotiation and preparation, and an aggressive public schedule to drive a coordinated earned media strategy.
Campaign Manager
- Coordinated all operations for the campaign’s signature”100 Counties in 100 Days” and college tour efforts, resulting in 140 town halls across North Carolina with over 500,000 voter contacts, 12,000 event attendees, 8,000 volunteer signups, and over 150 media articles in local and national outlets. - Raised $3.4 million via aggressive digital fundraising tactics, paid fundraising mail, and an in-state grassroots fundraiser strategy. The campaign maintained a median contribution of $15 with over 27,000 individual contributors. 90% of all contributions came from North Carolina.- Built a highly diverse team and instituted a positive culture that prioritized effectiveness, equality and inclusion, employee empowerment, and a “Happy Warrior” mentality.
Campaign Manager
- Managed a $30 million budget for a top-tier campaign for the United States Senate. The campaign eventually earned more votes than any Democrat has ever received in Kansas. - Developed a workplace culture that maintained high expectations and daily structure during the COVID-19 pandemic with 35 employees working via telework beginning in March 2020. Campaign culture fostered collaboration, equality, trust, teamwork, and creativity in a secure online environment. Our workplace was recognized by the DSCC as a model of best practices for campaigns in COVID-19 hotspots.- Oversaw the development and use of message language to create a permission structure allowing moderate Republicans and conservative Independents to support a Democratic federal candidate in a deeply red state. As part of that structure, the campaign recruited over 100 current and former Republican elected officials to endorse and for use in campaign advertising and as surrogates.- Message was communicated via multi-track coordinated advertisements - airing as many as seven ads simultaneously - across all four major television markets. Print and digital persuasion programs included intense outreach to the Kansas Latinx and African-American communities. Digital strategies included but were not limited to paid search dominance, conquesting on multiple platforms, national and local influencer engagement, and CTV/OTT targeting.- Successfully forced the NRSC and affiliated super PACs to spend a combined $40 million defending what had originally been rated a “Safe Republican” seat by Cook Political Report in early 2020.- Managed all national political relationships with the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, EMILY’s List, 314 Action Fund, League of Conservation Voters, Planned Parenthood, Giffords PAC, the AFL-CIO, and others.
Gotv Director, Michigan
- Coordinated GOTV programs with national campaign leadership and the Michigan AFL-CIO’s super PAC Working Michigan. Integrated communication systems and introduced new technology to ensure an efficient and effective GOTV program.- Oversaw the deployment of volunteers from labor affiliates to canvass over 115,000 doors on behalf of union-endorsed candidates. Targeted labor membership and allies via Catalist and NGP VAN scores to maintain Democratic support through the entire ballot. The effort proved critical with the Michigan Supreme Court striking down party-based “straight-ticket voting” earlier in 2018.
Campaign Manager
- Coordinated all message development, communications, fundraising, field, and GOTV tactics to elect the first Muslim American to high office in American history. Oversaw the fundraising and management of a $5.5 million budget. - Directed a cutting-edge distributed organizing model to activate and organize over 8,000 volunteers from across the country and overseas. The campaign sent over 2.5 million SMS messages, knocked over 250,000 doors, and made over 1,000,000 phone calls to individually targeted voters without exceeding 7.5% of the overall campaign budget. - The campaign’s organizing efforts tripled the closest previous voter turnout among Muslim American voters in Michigan and matched turnout among voters under 30 from the 2016 Michigan presidential primary.
