When I first read the quote, “if you think you’re too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito,” by Dalai Lama, I thought it made sense but would never work out in reality. I was an 8th grader at that time, volunteering at a local LEGO-based after school program. Looking back, I realize that not only is this quote is true: we all have the potential to make a tangible difference in other people’s lives. The next year, I began volunteering at Reading Partners, teaching reading to underserved students. Through conversations with my students, I realized the lack of and need for quality educational enrichment programs in STEM, particularly robotics. I became inspired to begin my own nonprofit, Robotics For All, which is now a national organization that has reached tens of thousands of students. This experience taught me that each of us is can create a positive impact in this world, even in small ways. As I continued my journey into college at Georgetown, I have sought opportunities to enhance others — whether it be through boosting the social media presence of a client through my work at Georgetown Marketing Association or by providing a little more insight to a prospective student on one of my Georgetown tours. As I prepare for my next step as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Taiwan, I aim to continue making an impact by improving students' English, enabling them to communicate better in an ever-globalizing world. After my Fulbright grant, I hope to continue this path and amplify my impact through business or law.If you want to join me on this journey or provide guidance, please connect. I can be reached on LinkedIn or at mwg55@georgetown.edu.Value Proposition: Builds and leads effective teams, the ability to take initiative, seek out tasks that need to be done, and take ownership of any project or task, mentorship toward younger generation of aspiring leaders.Recognized For: Strong leadership, creative problem-solving skills, initiative taker, multi-faceted areas of expertise, can-do attitude, global experience, cultural awareness and technology and digital technology.
