Worked in the Professional Systems DivisionMajority of time spent designing parts using NX CAD software for a new portable music system. Some designs were on existing parts to fix an existing issue or add a new feature while some were designs of new parts. Only the purpose of the part and a few specifications were given, leaving me the responsibility and freedom to develop the design. Another task was to design a tool to grip broken weld-nuts on the side bracket of an existing product. The tool was required for an upcoming installation; therefore, there was a fast approaching deadline to design, prototype, and machine the tools. In the end, the tool was machined in time for the installation and based on the success at the installation more copies of the tool were produced and sent to be used in installations globally. A final task was to research metal fatigue in regard to an upcoming project. Based on the research, the search for a lab to test parts for fatigue life began.
