About Maxim Kuvyrkov

We work on all aspects of LLVM and GNU toolchains -- GCC, Clang, Flang, Glibc, GDB, Binutils, and more -- for Arm architectures.

Principal Toolchain Engineer
My goal at Linaro is helping developers enjoy their work while crafting imminent ARM/Linux world domination.
Founder
I started KugelWorks to provide services and support for GCC and GNU Toolchain to companies big and small. The startup life at KugelWorks was exciting and varied. We provided consulting and development services to our clients. We fixed bugs in GCC, Binutils and Glibc. We helped our clients' compiler teams to hit their deadlines. Above all, we did what we loved -- we hacked on open-source software.
Gnu Toolchain Developer (Sourcerer)
Same team, same work as at CodeSourcery under a different name. Mentor Graphics acquired CodeSourcery in November 2010.
Gnu Toolchain Developer (Sourcerer)
At CodeSourcery I worked on a great variety of projects starting with GCC in 2007 and picking up one-two new projects every year. I have worked on GCC, Binutils, Glibc, uClibc, Newlib, Linux kernel, GDB and other open-source projects as well as CodeSourcery's proprietary developments. The best thing about CodeSourcery was the opportunity to contribute to many aspects of the business outside of my primary engineering role. I have gradually started to participate in pre-sales analysis, project scoping, SOW drafting and project management -- finishing up as team lead for performance projects. * Lead efforts to improve code generation for ARM and MIPS targets which resulted in over 40 improvements to compiler optimizations. * Designed and implemented highly optimized GLIBC string and memory functions which increased speed by 3% on client’s benchmark. * Implemented and tuned optimizations for Intel's Core 2 and Core i7 processors. * Implemented EGLIBC (Embedded Glibc) feature configurability which allowed to decrease library footprint by 50%. * Primary engineer and release manager for Freescale m68k/ColdFire toolchains. Over the course of 3 years produced 6 major releases of production-quality m68k/ColdFire toolchains. * Implemented NPTL support for m68k/ColdFire in Binutils, GCC, Glibc and Linux kernel which made m68k/ColdFire's multithreading support conformant to POSIX.
Gcc Developer
My first GCC project was at ISP RAS (Institute for System Programming of Russian Academy of Science) optimizing GCC for ia64 (Intel's Itanium) VLIW architecture. I added support for ia64's speculative memory instructions to GCC's scheduler, which improved SPEC2000 performance by 3%.I have also worked on a research project focusing on static code analysis and vulnerability detection.Dropped out from PhD program at the Russian Academy of Science to dive into professional toolchain development.
