Named the 2013 Strength Training Athlete of the Year for the Miami Hurricanes, Jimmy Gaines is the definition of a dedication. As a resident of Getzville, New York – Gaines went to Canisius High School and dominated on both sides of the ball as; linebacker, safety, tight end, tailback and receiver. His athletic versatility did not go unnoticed, and would eventually bring him to Miami.As a true freshman in 2010, Gaines worked on developing his game at linebacker and would later earn the trust of his coaches and become a starter his sophomore year. Tallying up 58 tackles on the season, with 24 solo tackles, Gaines continued to improve his game over the next two years. He finished his junior year by adding 10 more solo tackles to his stats, a fumble recovery, two interceptions, and three tackles for a loss. Coming into his senior year, Gaines was determined to leave his mark on Miami’s gridiron. He started in all 13 games at middle linebacker and racked up 83 total tackles, again adding to his unassisted tackles for a total of 54. There is no wonder why Gaines was chosen as the 2013 Strength Training Athlete of the Year. Hard work and determination is the name of the game, and Gaines is very good at it.Jimmy Gaines was signed by the Buffalo Bills immediately following the 2014 NFL Draft.
