I'm never content to just settle in with my current level of knowledge. I always want to know more. Learning is my passion.Computers have always been a part of my life. At the age of 8, I installed OS's on my old 486 computer. At 10, I wrote my first program in BASIC. I already had a fascination with languages, and by time I had turned 16, I could speak decent enough Spanish that I could carry on religious debate in Spanish with the Hispanics that I worked with in a specialty construction company. Also at 16, I began taking college courses in high school, and completed two years of college before finishing high school, while playing with computer network security tools during spare time (the I.T. guy at school would reward me with soda when I reported "holes" in security to him). After studying for a year at the University of Utah, I went to China for two years, teaching English, learning Mandarin, and navigating a hostile internet.During that time, technology played an important part in my life. I had to get past China's Great Firewall, create a website for distributing class assignments and updates. I did my best to protect my school's woefully insecure computer network, actually making it usable for teaching classes. When my headmaster gave me permission to create my own classes, it was my joy to teach a cute bunch of 5 year-old's how to read phonetically using Dr. Seuss and phonetic reading principles. This allowed me to learn to edit audio, pictures, and video and compile it into courses.Returning to the U.S., I found a job working for a company that produces online language courses, further pushing my skills, while learning how to manage large projects through the example of a great manager there. I then returned to the University of Utah, where I finished my BA while working full-time.Having worked for businesses of all sizes, I'm now applying my knowledge, experience, and energy to our world's problems. It's we who shape our world.学如逆水行舟,不进则退!

Appbank Operations L2 SupportGoldman Sachs Jul 2017 - Nov 2017New York, New York, UsConverted from contingent worker into full-time employee, I continued to serve in role where I had the pleasure of working with a diverse and global team to support highly distributed applications across various types of database, networking, and storage technologies. Applications which I debugged, supported, and proposed fixes for were written in a wide variety of languages, some of which are proprietary, and others which are industry standard. I actively sought out ways to improve the applications and infrastructure that I supported, while working with others to see those implementations come to fruition. -

I.T. NinjaFrontpoint Information Technology Jul 2013 - Apr 2015Help clients' computers and servers run without issue, so that they can succeed in business. If nothing's going wrong, that means I'm doing it right. I work with a great team to help manage networks, servers, workstations and all other technology that helps people get business done.Over the past year, I have been further developing my Information Security knowledge and skills, practicing penetration testing techniques, as well as network intrusion detection. I recently successfully implemented an open-source IDS Linux distribution into a client network. As Information Security becomes more and more relevant, I plan to continue growing in my knowledge and skills in this area.More recently in my free time, I have successfully set up and configured a decent RaspberryPi-based honeypot that shows tremendous potential for detecting network intrusions.

Chinese BuilderMiddlebury Interactive Languages Sep 2011 - Jun 2013Middlebury, Vt, UsWhile receiving no change in title, I essentially coordinated the course development of a first-year Chinese language course, while at the same time producing content, editing audio, and coming up with innovative solutions for using outside media on Middlebury Interactive's online course platform. Helped edit and review both Chinese and English, arrange contacts with native Chinese speakers for audio recording sessions, as well as made sure that others were getting things done on time; if any team member needed something to do, I could always give them something productive and accomplishable, that helped to move our project forward. -
