I’m a data scientist from Brooklyn, NY. I’m trained as a full stack dev, but data science is my (not-so-secret) favorite part of what I get to do everyday.I got my start in machine learning during my software engineering internship with Ocean Power Tech, where I built computer vision models for use on self-sustaining buoys. DS/ML clicked with my coding-adolescence and academic experience in data analytics. Algos like tSNE are really cool :).In 2023, I graduated from Clarkson University in NY, with a BSc in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics (minor in Information Technology). Then I moved to Phoenix, AZ and got in deep with local tech communities. I started an independent research paper (GUS-Net), which grew into a 501(c)3, Ethical Spectacle Research. We launched with a sustainability hackathon, followed by six coding/ML workshops and a social bias hackathon. In Sept 2024, we completed our founding project, an open-source social bias NER model: GUS-Net (check my “Volunteering” section for pics and the preprint). Since then, I’ve continued my work in bias detection as a contributor/co-author on News Media Bias Plus (Vector Institute). Now, I’m building financial tools for SMEs with some really inspiring devs at Uplinq, as a Machine Learning Engineer. I’m also excitedly planning my steps towards grad school.
