I started my pharmacy career while working for Boots. First completing my healthcare advisor training for selling over the counter medication, then my dispensing assistant training to obtain my SVQ Level 2 in pharmacy services. These two roles were eventually combined and renamed Pharmacy Advisor. I worked as Phamacy Advisor for six years. My role involed processing, labelling and dispensing medications, keeping both paper and electronic records up to date, managing stock levels, receiving orders and dealing with discrepancies to orders, dispensing dosette boxes, managing repeat prescriptions, advising patients on their medication (under the supervision of a pharmacist) and any other pharmacy related tasks.After working in this role for five years, I applied to college to complete the National Certificate in Pharmacy Services. This was the first step in becoming a Pharmacy Technician.I attended college while maintaining the pharmacy advisor role on a part-time basis.Upon completion of the college course, I applied to become a pre-registration pharmacy technician with the NHS. I started the pre-registration pharmacy technician role in December 2019 and worked towards completing the necessary work based qualification while also learning about aseptic technique and aseptic preparation. I trained to make CIVAS, adult and paediatric TPN, chemotherapy and running the baxa compounder.I completed the qualifications in August 2021 and registered with the GPhC in December 2021.I then started my current role as Pharmacy technician in the same unit i completed my training in. I recently started my SVQ Assessor qualification, which will allow me to support future pre-registration technicians with their training.
