Max currently works as a Club Programmer for the Boys and Girls Clubs of South Coast BC. He is a dedicated mentor for children and youth, and has over two years experience working with young people from challenging backgrounds.Max has fostered positive and enduring relationships with the children at the Surrey Club by promoting positive relationship building as well as behaviour management strategies and leadership skills. He is committed to building a safe and nurturing space in which young people feel supported, both through one-on-one connections as well as comprehensive programming focused on the core outcomes of positive relationship building and lifelong learning.Before working with Boys and Girls Clubs, Max worked as an Activity Programmer for the Writer's Exchange, a non-profit organization promoting literacy skills for children and youth from inner-city schools in Vancouver. This experience fostered Max's passion and commitment for working with at-risk youth, and supporting the development of important life skills such as literacy and positive relationships.Max graduated from SFU in 2017 with a degree in Communications and Media Studies. During this time he also worked with the university's independent student newspaper for over three years, serving in many roles including as Editor-in-Chief. These experiences were crucial in developing Max's skills as an educator and mentor.Max is a capable leader and dependable team member dedicated to supporting and empowering at-risk children and youth. He is committed to pursuing a career path that allows him to continue this work and further develop his skills as a child and youth worker.
