Just like any great story, I'm going to start at the beginning. But not right at the beginning. Origin stories belong in the sequel.I've been a storyteller at heart since I was young, when I would re-read my favourite book - The Phantom Tollbooth - so many times that, to this day, I'm still reminded of Milo's battle with demons in the Mountains of Ignorance every time I sharpen a pencil. It surprised nobody that I ended up working as an educator and a communications professional, using storytelling to engage learners and encourage funders to part with their benjamins.I've worn SO many hats in my career. Luckily, I've been able to pull off most styles:- The wide-brim catchall sombrero? Check - accounting, grant writing, admin, facilitation - everything necessary to keep the lights on and our clients happy.- The slick but classic fedora? Check - sales, client relations, curriculum expertise, staffing, and a smile for everyone - everything a self-respecting manager needs.- The rainbow hat with a twirly propellor? Check - helping shy and insecure students get comfortable in new environments and supporting non-profit staff who are in way over their heads with too little funding and too little experience. In addition to being a storyteller at heart, I'm a lifelong learner. You can't convince a class full of students to take learning seriously, or a workshop filled with busy professionals to consider you an authority, if you don't walk the walk.I'm pretty busy these days as a first time dad, but I'm always happy to chat about or make recommendations for great things to read so feel free to drop me a line.
