I am a dedicated professional in the digital library and cultural heritage sectors, currently serving as the Head of Strategy and Innovation at the Austrian National Library. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to hold various leadership roles, including Head of Research and Data Services, where I’ve contributed to important initiatives that help shape the library’s digital developmentI've worked with a great team of skilled software developers, data scientists, data librarians, and digital humanities experts who have been instrumental in advancing our goals.My team established ONB Labs, which offers tools and a wealth of cultural heritage datasets, enabling researchers to leverage digital collections for innovative scholarship. We also implemented the Infrastructure for Digital Editions, providing a framework for all digital edition projects based on the library's source material. This infrastructure enhances scholars' capabilities to conduct research more effectively, collaborate with others, and contribute to the collective knowledge in their fields.I initiated and led the Austrian Books Online project, a public-private partnership with Google that has digitized over 650,000 public domain books to date, significantly enhancing access to cultural heritage data for digital humanities research.Additionally, I led the strategic process of creating both the previous and current visions for the Austrian National Library, emphasizing digital transformation and openness. My work consistently focuses on harnessing technology to enhance access to cultural heritage and supporting digital humanities on a national and European level.At the European level, I served as the Founding Chair of the Europeana Network organization and advised the Europeana Foundation as a member of the Governing Board. These roles allowed me to contribute to the strategic direction of digital heritage initiatives across Europe and promote collaboration among cultural institutions.Beyond my work at the Austrian National Library, I contribute as a member of the Board of Directors at the Open Preservation Foundation.
