Our interface utilizes soft actuators to restrict movement and haptic feedback to simulate object weight, shape, momentum, and other physical-based interactions.In this role, I conducted mechanical research and development, designing pneumatic circuits for the core actuation logic block and developing custom fittings to produce our own pneumatic air muscles. Additionally, I was responsible for the legal and financial aspects of the business, and for representing our team at local entrepreneurial events.The group decision was made to formally close the startup in November of 2016. After careful evaluation of suppliers and materials was made, we determined that we did not have enough capital to successfully implement a prototype that would consistently survive more than a few hundred cycles. In my internship role as a HVAC Systems Drafter at Commercial HVAC, I created detailed ductwork and piping fabrication plans from single-line engineering plans for in-house fabrication, and would take on-site measurements and photos to identify any existing obstructions and available ceiling space to deploy our solutions.
