FounderMultidimensional Capital Jun 2021 - PresentMultidimensional Capital is building a unique investment vehicle for the non-conventional investor who believes the current financial paradigm is insufficient at best and broken at worst, who wants to allocate their capital to cutting edge strategies and managers who see this new world. We believe the world is at a crossroads where the old paradigm is breaking down and a new one is emerging. Yet how this breakdown and transition occurs is highly uncertain.Multidimensional Capital is a fund of funds and has built partnerships with some of the best active managers in the world who share this worldview who each have different pieces of the puzzle to successfully surf the many upcoming turbulent storms in this time of great transition. Our strategies focus on allocating capital towards the next paradigm of global macro, activist stakes in precious metals exploration companies, early-stage crypto companies building next-generation infrastructure, cutting edge long volatility risk management models, and emerging industries like psychedelic medicine and disruptive technology coming out of Silicon Valley in areas like artificial intelligence, robotics, and bioinformatics.Send me a message if you'd like to read our whitepaper and learn more.

AuthorWriting A Book On Entrepreneurship & Innovation Oct 2017 - Mar 2019Writing a book on the Management Science of Entrepreneurship and Innovation. The book builds on the Startup Genome Project and 7 years of research, data gathering and model construction in attempt to establish an Orienting Unifying Paradigm for the burgeoning Pre-Paradigm Field of the Management Science of Entrepreneurship. Brief Contextualization — The History of Management Science:The world’s first multinational corporation, the Dutch East India Company was formed in 1602. Two to three hundred years later Frederick Taylor, Henry Ford and Alfred Sloan had laid the foundations for the paradigm of Management Science of Business. They developed a scientific approach for making businesses incredibly efficient, creating workflows like the assembly line, systematically eliminating waste, standardizing best practices and formalizing knowledge transfer between workers. Their approach was then formalized in Business Schools, which trained hundreds of thousands of managers in these methods and enabled corporations all around the world to flourish. While Entrepreneurship and Innovation does not yet have a comparatively well developed paradigm, it is ahead of schedule, as high growth, venture-backed tech startups in their current form are only about 40 years old. And the time is ripe now for this paradigm to take shape as many of the necessary pre-paradigm pieces have now been developed: over the last 40 years, many people working in the field of Entrepreneurship & Innovation accumulated enough experience to begin crystallizing the patterns they noticed played a significant role in determining success and failure. In the last 10 years many rich communities of practice have coalesced around what could be called the sub-disciplines of the Management Science of Entrepreneurship and Innovation. These are known by names like: Lean Startup, Customer Development, The Business Model Canvas, Design Thinking & Growth Hacking.Book to be released in 2018. More details soon.

Founder, CeoNew Co Jul 2014 - Feb 2015New company combining Big Data, Machine Learning & Advanced Psychology to hyper-personalize the web. The vision was to make an individual's psychology as fundamental an organizing principle of the web as the social graph. Our early prototypes aimed to automatically determine someone's psychograph from their digital footprint. We interpreted someone's psychograph using some of the most cutting edge typological and developmental psychological models, instead of the significantly less powerful psychological models in mainstream academia.

Founder, Chief Science & Strategy OfficerCompass Inc. (Formerly Startup Genome) Jan 2011 - Jun 2013To date the company has released two projects: The Startup Genome Project & Compass. The Startup Genome Project:I began this work after recognizing high growth technology startups would be the primary economic growth engine of the Information Era, yet 90% of startups were failing. One of the primary goals of SGP was to lay the foundations for entrepreneurship to become a management science by creating the most integrated, predictive and actionable model of a modern, 21st century, high-growth technology startup.I conducted the original research that the Startup Genome was based on under the guidance of Steve Blank at Stanford University. Using techniques and methodologies from Evolutionary Developmental System Theory and Integral Theory, I built an extensible, generalizable, model of a high-growth technology startup that unified the major methodologies, perspectives and insights from today's Entrepreneurship Thought Leaders, including Steve Blank's Customer Development, Eric Ries' Lean Startup, Alex Osterwalder's Business Model Canvas, Dave Mcclure's AARRR Metrics and Sean Ellis' Startup Marketing Pyramid. I designed all the survey instruments, lead the development of the first 2 Startup Genome reports on startup success and failure, including leading all data analysis and writing related activities. I lead the editing for the 3rd report on Startup Ecosystems.Compass:Based on the data gathered from the Startup Genome Project, we built Compass. Compass is a dashboard that helps companies better allocate their resources by providing benchmarks and recommendations based on Marketing, Sales and Financial data pulled from various APIs.I designed & trained the initial machine learning classification algorithms. I wrote and/or edited the copy for all marketing activities, including blog posts, press releases, emails and in-application text. I was pushed out of an operational role in the company due to a variety of differences with my cofounders. -
CofounderBlackbox Oct 2010 - Jan 2011blackbox aimed to make startup seed acceleration scalable by developing a replicable management science of entrepreneurship, and creating a distributed consulting model that could become the "Mckinsey for Startups". We learned that our consulting model was not currently feasible due to SEC restrictions on equity transactions and realized we could use the same management science we had been developing as the basis for a software product. The software approach was also inherently more scalable. We pivoted towards becoming a data company based on software and research, and launched the Startup Genome Project in February 2011.

Palomar5 ResidentPalomar5 Oct 2009 - Nov 2009Palomar5 started as a 6 week innovation camp in Berlin for 30 people under 30 in October 2009. The camp was sponsored by Deutsche Telekom and the theme was "the future of work". 13 projects were born that centered around 3 themes: Data, social consciousness and entrepreneurship. After the camp I worked on establishing an alumni community in San Francisco. The camp stimulated a lot of personal growth and inspired me to think about global trends in innovation and the work place. It was there I realized I wanted to focus on increasing the success rate of startups. When I returned home to the Bay Area I started Founders First.

InternInstitute For The Future Jun 2008 - Sep 2008Palo Alto, Ca, UsI got a summer internship at the Institute for the Future as a rising senior in high school.I worked on X2, Global Lives & Superstruct, and launched the Youth Action Research Network, which I continued to work on after the summer as the evolution of my ideas about where to take the Technology ClubWe created the Youth Action Research Network to support young people who, like us, were eager to take action to design and ensure a better future but may not have had the means to make it happen. By networking our resources, utilizing the entrepreneurial and innovative spirit of Silicon Valley, and capitalizing on the resources already available to the Institute for the Future, this group worked to enable young people to engage with the professional and academic communities through mentoring, support and active projects. The result for participants was increased integration with and exposure to the work that is shaping the world. Through workshops and projects, we aimed to provide students with the skills schools currently do not, and enable them to be leading change makers in the 21st century. -
FounderTechnology Club Sep 2006 - Sep 2008At the start of my sophomore year I founded the Technology Club as a vehicle to push my school into the 21st century, to organize like-minded peers, and to create a platform to visit and explore the vast network of people and ideas in the Bay Area. While my school had a great college prep curriculum, key 21st century elements were missing. The industrial arts program was stuck in the 20th century. After reading Fab by MIT professor Neil Gershenfeld, I was convinced that our shops should move toward digital fabrication, a direction that would also advance the school’s goals for interdisciplinary education, project-based learning, public purpose, and more. We wrote a successful grant for a laser cutter, the school’s first major digital tool. We also successfully lobbied for student use of the school website and persuaded the school to hire a Director of Technology. The club also organized trips many to innovative places around the bay area including the Computer Human Interaction Lab at Stanford, the SETI Project at UC Berkeley, Squid Labs, and Google. Further explorations included Maker Faire, Macworld Expo, The Singularity Summit, and Long Now events.
