As a systems engineer at RoviSys Building Technologies, I work to integrate automated HVAC systems and create smart buildings. So far, I have written code for an automated temperature control system, taking an IO list and electrical drawings and designing a program to control the airflow and temperature in an automotive assembly plant. I also designed and integrated the user interface for this system, prioritizing intuitive navigation and ease of use.The controls, electrical, and automation experience I have gained with RoviSys Building Technologies work well to complement the experience I have had on the mechanical and component design side of systems engineering. This job has helped teach me how to organize an IO list, develop intuitive software and interfaces, and read, create, and build electrical drawings.

While working as a contract engineer at MWW1, I gained experience with a variety of industries and projects. I worked on the development of a recliner prototype and did mock-up CAD for a leading sectional couch brand. I went through multiple rounds of design meetings and presented several potential designs. I took feedback to iterate CAD models and get a design ready to present to the customer.On another project, I routed high-voltage lines and worked on the full electrical harness for an EV tech company. I traveled to Milan, Italy delivering parts for this project that required time-critical testing. Throughout my time at MWW1, I fabricated CNC parts for both internal and external customers, using 3D printing when necessary to ensure fit before fabrication.MWW1 laid the groundwork for my ability to take an idea and turn it into a product, going through each stage of the design cycle with care and efficiency in mind.

While at Custom Rubber Corporation, I worked to develop an automated quality control system for an injection molded rubber part. I got hands-on experience with the hardware, software, electrical, HMI, and CAD necessary for this project. I spec'd and wired a VFD for the project conveyor belt, designed, modeled, and purchased materials for an extruded frame, and adjusted a vision system to detect defects. This project familiarized me with PLC programming and its industrial applications. Additionally, I got experience with in-house fabrication and the importance of designing components and systems with assembly and manufacturing in mind. While working as a systems engineer at Custom Rubber Corporation, I learned how to approach a project with strict budgetary and time constraints and how to integrate the various parts of a system.

My first time working at MWW1, I experienced working in a small-scale engineering consulting firm. I learned rapid prototyping techniques and gained experience using SOLIDWORKS for part design, engineering drawings, and assembly validation. I was entrusted with small projects, learning how to approach a problem and the steps required to push a project forward.One such project was the replication of a metal component of a door latch. With little guidance on this project, I reverse engineered the part and created a CAD model from the data. I then 3D printed one piece to confirm dimensions and tolerances. Once the model was validated, I produced final parts using a CNC machine and finishing tools.This experience with MWW1 familiarized me with CAD tools and a wide range of prototyping techniques. It also taught me how to own a project and independently reach milestones and deadlines.
