I'm an experienced engineering leader who's spent the past few years leading and building productive teams, and I'm looking to do more of that. I'm comfortable in any stack - I've spent time in .net, python, rails, node.js, and more.I'm a huge advocate of building effective, functional technical teams that are autonomous and involved. That's what I eat, sleep and breathe. I hire good developers quickly, involve them in the business, give them ownership of their tools and process and support them in doing what they do best. I talk openly and directly with them about areas of improvement, and foster an environment where they feel safe doing the same with me. When I lead a team, I aim to create a new group of leaders who can carry on what I’m doing while I move on to solving new problems.Personally, I like to spend lots of time straddling the business and technical side of a problem. I want to engineer not only the software, but the process surrounding the software. Having a deep understanding of the business, the users and the product allows me to make confident, conscious decisions about every feature we build and ensure we're always building the right thing.Above all, I believe in honesty, empathy and kindness as critical core values to any good team. It's not enough to have good developers - they need to be considerate of one another, empathetic towards the end user and treat kindness as part of their job. I'm a strong proponent of frequent, in-depth retrospectives, honest communication between teammates and open doors for asking questions.
