Continually in pursuit of personal and professional growth, I enjoy connecting with others and working in teams to find win-win situations. Currently, I serve as a Substance Abuse Counselor at Harris House Foundation, where I facilitate educational and process-oriented groups for clients and their families, and provide individual counseling sessions to those clients on my caseload. I also lead the five-day Men’s Trauma Series, a program that is designed to help clients gain insight and skills and employ their strength and resilience in order to better cope with the effects of troubling experiences and traumas in their lives. The group also explores the associations among addiction, trauma, and co-occurring diagnoses.My previous direct practice experience includes serving as Direct Care Staff member at the St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center and as the Alumni Coordinator at Red Oak Recovery Centers, supporting young men on their path to recovery. Currently, I am pursuing a Master of Social Work degree with a Mental Health concentration and Management specialization. I look forward to a career as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker serving individuals facing substance use disorder and other mental health diagnoses.I am an alumnus of Saint Louis University, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Latin American and International Studies, and hold a Professional Master of Business Administration degree with a Management concentration from there as well. My past professional experience includes working for small businesses, social service organizations, and think tanks.Along the way, I was bitten by the entrepreneurial bug and have founded a few ventures, some more successful than others. I was the angel investor for the TechArtista ecosystem of coworking spaces, and over the years, I have held various roles within that business, ranging from advisor to community manager. Whether or not I hold a formal title, I will always support the TechArtista mission of community and business development.
