The My Brother's Keeper Alliance was a legacy initiative of the Barack Obama Foundation dedicated to creating pathways of opportunity for boys and young men of color (BYMOC). Served in a senior leadership position managing the national program team (4 members), contributing to broader strategic planning and operations, helping to oversee a $14M budget, and assisting with integration into the Barack Obama Foundation. Principal activities included: Full suite of capacity-building, training, technical assistance, funding, and online resource programs for nearly 250 MBK communities National data platform in partnership with Bloomberg Associates and PolicyLink for performance measurement, analysis, and tracking of the MBK Milestones Regional and national convenings to build communities of learning and practice (e.g., North Carolina Regional Summit, White House MBK Summit, Long Beach Regional Summit) Youth summits to promote BYMOC innovation, offer career opportunities, and develop tools for next generation leadership (e.g., Oakland and Newark Opportunity Summits, Albuquerque Native American Youth Summit)National partner alignment, including key corporate and philanthropic leaders (e.g., Kellogg Foundation, California Endowment, Executives’ Alliance, Lyft, Sprint, Starbucks)

The Taproot Foundation drives social change by mobilizing and engaging professionals in pro bono service. As the DC Executive Director and member of the Executive Management Team, supported all strategic, programmatic, management, and fundraising efforts for the DC office as well as the overall national organization ($6.5M operating budget; local team of 4 people). Accomplishments included: Helped lead national capacity building programs in partnership with the philanthropic and corporate sectors to serve nonprofits through a wide variety of service grants, the Taproot+ online platform, and innovative done-in-a-day and market-building eventsSignificantly expanded pro bono programming in the Washington DC region to serve over 500 nonprofits and 500 professional volunteers annuallyPioneered the creation of the national MBK Strong campaign, a corporate pro bono response to President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper Challenge

Kid Power, Inc. is a civics-based organization that provides academic, nutritional, and service-learning opportunities for District of Columbia youth.
