During his time at XP Power he was able to experience a complete product design cycle, from concept to delivery of a complex power conversion system. He was able to gain experience with the engineering workflow from napkin drawings to customer design reviews to prototype documentation and assembly. Max was able to assemble a prototype and gained experience reading and understanding engineering assembly drawings, He built cable assemblies and learned about hand crimp tooling and wire styles. Max also helped me with a new power design I was working on and gave me some very clever mechanical ideas that actually made it into the shipping product. While he was here I also showed him how we use 3D CAD software to through concept to drafting and he was able to pick up on it very easily. Max is very clever and is easy to see that he is an outside of the box thinker, with great communication skills. I believe any company would be happy to have Max on the engineering staff once he graduates. I really enjoyed mentoring Max because I could tell he was very interested in the things I would show him.
