Maxwell Drever has been an impact investor for over 40 years. After obtaining a B.A. in Finance from the University of Illinois, Mr. Drever’s career in responsible investments began in Seattle in the early 1970s, profitably transforming 17 troubled complexes into desirable apartment communities for families with workforce incomes. Adopting what has been described as a contrarian real estate investment strategy, Mr. Drever has demonstrated almost prescient knowledge of real estate market shifts, distinguishing him as a true visionary in the industry. From the early 1970’s, Mr. Drever was the principal of Drever McIntosh & Co. and Concierge Asset Management (“Concierge”). As part of his impact investment acquisition and redevelopment strategy, he was one of, if not the largest, early on buyers of the Resolution Trust Corporation’s (RTC) often troubled apartments and condominiums. After the merger of Concierge into Walden Residential REIT (NYSE) in 1997 and the expiration a non-compete period in 2000, he re-constituted his management company, merging with Crossbeam Capital to form CB Concierge. Mr. Drever’s portfolio of real estate investments, held directly or indirectly through Drever Companies or affiliated entities, has included over 70,000 multifamily apartment units and condominiums, as well as industrial, office, and retail properties.Over the course of his career, Mr. Drever has assembled a top-notch team of property management and redevelopment specialists that have cost effectively acquired and transformed underperforming apartments into class A and B workforce apartment communities that generated triple bottom line returns (TBL).
