The Assistant Financial Controller role consisted of running the day to day financial operations of a remote site in northern Manitoba, reporting to both the Financial Controller and the General Manager. My primary duties included training new finance hires, overseeing the payroll function for over 100 employees, conducting regular site audits, preparing monthly financial reports, analyzing trends, and managing a group of Finance Coordinators.I am particularly proud of my involvement in overhauling the payroll system. I worked closely with developers at Sodexo's head office, through several iterations, to implement a brand new payroll system. This system allowed us to increase our payroll efficiency by 50%.

Working a 20 days on, 8 days off schedule from a remote site, my primary duty as the Finance Coordinator was to ensure that our transactions with the client were going smoothly and following our contract to the letter. This meant that my major focus was handling the demanding accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions. It also meant working closely with the client to meet their ever changing reporting needs, always willing to completely revamp processes to ensure they were satisfied.

The Analyst, Client Service/Account Coordinator position was focussed primarily on managing media campaigns for a multitude of clients such as Bell, Royale, and Nova Scotia Liquor Commission. Campaigns would typically involve radio, tv, online, newspaper, and out of home buys. Communication skills were critical as a large portion of my days were spent on the phone dealing with either creative agencies, clients, or media reps. This position taught me how to successfully juggle several complex projects simultaneously.

My tenure at CIBC was spent as a Content Verification Clerk. The clerk's responsibility was to handle personal account ABM deposits for locations across Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island. Working at a speed of over 300 deposits/hour, I would carefully input each deposit into the appropriate account, ensuring declared value matched actual value, and performing account debits and credits as required. In order to meet the demanding SLA, each and every deposit received had to be handled that day, regardless of total volume. This position taught me to be both effective and efficient in everything I do.

The Executive Vice President within the Students' Union is a student position elected by the student body, which serves a one year term. I was fortunate enough to be elected into this position for my final year of my undergraduate degree. Besides being responsible for acting in the best interests of all students, the EVP was a member of the executive committee, helping steer the overall direction of the Students' Union. Other duties included acting as a director of communications, academic appeals committee member, and alumnae board member.Other than my mandated duties, my proudest contribution during my term was planning and overseeing the complete redesign of the Students' Union organizational website.
